“They can run all day, then sit at your feet listening to the rain, content and polite.”

Welsh Shire Kennels

Content to wait

Excellent work ethic. Fantastic home manners.

That balance is what makes us so passionate about this breed. A Welsh Sheepdog will work beside you from first light, then settle at your feet for the evening. We believe it is the perfect family dog.

In the pasture

Focused, tireless, and quietly capable. They read the flock and think for themselves.

In the home

Settled, polite, and close by. Gentle with children and glad simply to be near their people.

Proven in the pasture.

Every one of our dogs works our own flock. Welsh Sheepdogs are loose-eyed and upright, moving stock calmly and thinking for themselves. This is them at work, on our ground.

Sheep first, but never only sheep.

The breed has always turned its hand to cattle, goats, horses and pigs as well. On a working farm, that versatility is the point.

A companion for every part of family life.

The same dog that gathers the flock rides along in the car, swims off the boat, naps in the hay, and curls up with the kids in the evening.

Is this the right breed for you?

These dogs need a job and something to think about every day. Given that, they are the most loyal, well-mannered companions we know.

Our dogs.

The foundation of our program. Every one of them works the flock and lives in the house with our family.

Bringing home a Welsh Shire puppy.

We place each puppy thoughtfully, with families who will give a Welsh Sheepdog a job to do and a place in the family. Every placement begins with a conversation.
